Awesome Apple Bank

The Awesome Apple Bank is the perfect fall craft to help you start of the school year. It is a quick and easy craft that will be sure to put a smile on your little one's face. Use this back to school craft to store lunch money in a safe place. Every kid will delight in having their own bank, especially one that reminds them of lunch period! Fill the bank with a few dollars to start them off and you're kid will be happy as can be.

Materials:

  • Palette Knife         
  • Home Decor Bisque Designs Apple Bank 4.25" x 4.25" x 4.5" (29207)
  • Duncan Concepts Underglazes for Bisque: Bright Brown
  • Duncan Crystals Glazes: Paradise Punch, Appletini         
  • Signature Brushes: No. 6 Round, No. 6 Fan Glaze
  • Duncan French Dimensions: Black Licorice
  • Duncan French Dimensions Clear Glaze
  • Foil or foam plate for palette
  • Container for water
  • Potter's sponge
  • Pencil
  • Painter's tape

Instructions:

  1. Wipe ware with damp sponge to remove any bisque dust.
  2. Remove rubber stopper on bottom of apple bank.
  3. Using the No. 6 Round, paint stem of apple with three coats of Bright Brown.
  4. Use Palette Knife to mix Appletini and Paradise Punch Crystals Glazes. Pour some of each on palette. Brush three coats of Appletini onto leaf.
  5. Brush three coats of Paradise Punch onto body of apple.
  6. Shake bottle of French Dimensions to make sure product is at tip. Test on paint palette.
  7. Freehand “Lunch Money” on front of apple with Black Licorice French Dimensions. Let dry.
  8. Brush a thin coat of Pure Brilliance Clear Glaze on stem of apple and two coats onto the base. Let dry completely.
  9. Stilt in kiln and fire to cone 06.
  10. Insert stopper back into base.
