Oh.... so that's how they do it! I had one that someone gave me but the dispenser broke off of it and I couldn't figure out how to replace it. I thought you'd have to buy the whole top, but it looks rather simple to make. I'm sure I have a dispenser that will work. Making the hole will be the hardest part.

Thinking of doing same with plastic jars - safety precaution for little hands in the restroom or kitchen sink area

Mason or Ball, I'm not sure which, just re-released repro's of their old blue jars and these would look great for projects. I've seen them at Ben Franklin's. I'm not sure if these are limited edition or not.

You can get a free jar and lid if you use jars that condiments like pickles and relish come in. Or if your mayo jar is glass, many opportunities for free jars!! If using pickle or any other jar where scent is still there, just soak in water with baking soda. After label is removed you have a free jar!!
