These glasses are perfect to use as a funny Halloween costume or for a gag gift. Don't buy plastic glasses from the store, they will only end up breaking. Instructions:

Gauge:
12 sc = about 4 in. (10 cm).

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch:

Stitch Explanation:
sc2tog (sc 2 sts together) (Insert hook in next st and draw up a loop) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook – 1 st decreased.

Glasses:

  1. With C, and beg at end of one arm of glasses, glue the beg tail horizontally along arm. Apply a small amount of glue to about 1 in. (2.5 cm) of glasses arm and wrap yarn around glued section covering the beg tail. Continue to apply glue to a small section at a time and wrap until glasses are completely covered. Cut C and glue tail in place.

Eyebrows: (make 2)

  1. With B, ch 8.
  2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 ch, 2 sc in next ch, sc in next 3 ch - 8 sc. Fasten off.
  3. Cut 4 strands of B, each about 18 in. (45.5 cm) long. Hold all 4 strands of B tog. Insert hook in first sc, yarn over with all strands of B and draw a loop to front until loop is about 1/2 in. (1.5 cm) long, remove hook from loop, *insert hook in next sc, yarn over with all strands of B and draw loop to front until loop is about 1/2 in. (1.5 cm) long, remove hook from loop; rep from * until a loop has been draw through every sc. Weave in ends.

Nose:

  1. With A, and beg at tip of Nose, ch 2.
  2. Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; do not join, work in continuous rnds (spiral) - 6 sc. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd. Move marker up as each rnd is completed.
  3. Rnd 2: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * around - 9 sc.
  4. Rnds 3 and 4: Sc in each st around.
  5. Rnd 5: Sc in the first 6 sts; leave last 3 sts unworked.
  6. Remove beg of rnd marker. Work now proceeds back and forth in rows.
  7. Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across - 6 sc.
  8. Row 7: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog - 4 sc.
  9. Row 8: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
  10. Row 9: Sc2tog twice - 2 sc.

Hold 4 strands of B tog and fold in half, *insert hook into sc, place fold on hook and draw fold through to front, forming a loop, draw ends of B strands through the loop, pull to tighten; rep from * in each sc of Row 1. Trim yarn ends evenly.
