Reuse recyclable materials and DIY backyard ideas to make this DIY Hanging Lantern project. Re-purpose pickle jars and leather belts to make a gorgeous edition to your outdoor patio or backyard. Handmade lanterns will give your home a rustic and effortless vibe. You could make a few lanterns to light your entire outdoor space. The great thing about the leather harness is its durability. Leather can withstand the elements, so you can leave your lanterns outside, rain or shine. This summer decoration would be absolutely perfect for an elegant garden party with your friends. Bring on the cute hor d'oeuvres!

My mother in law lives out in the country and this would be a beautiful addition to her outside decor. During the summer we are always hanging out after/during a cookout and I know this would be impressive down the side of her fence. Thanks for the free diy pattern idea.

Alex reminds me of myself. I do not like to throw anything away and I want to recycle everything. At the moment I am not at a loss for glass jars but I do not have the leather for the straps. No worries, I can make modifications to perfect this diy hanging lantern.
