This project is very detailed and precise. I bet I can create this cute decor piece with ease but I've never used mesh in my embroidery work before so this should be interesting. I love everything how ombre looking the butterflies are but I'd go for a brighter colour.

While I like the screen in the hoop, I have a slightly more ambitious idea. What about using an old window screen (or something like that) and filling it with these butterflies? I think it would make a strking display if they were made in many diffeent colors to match or accent any room.

This sounds like it would look beautiful! I'm curious - did you decide to try it? If so, would you mind posting some photos? I'd love to see how it came out!

I love the airy look of this butterfly craft, as if the butterflies really did just alight on the mesh hoop. The instructions reveal just how easy it is to duplicate this look with just split stitches to outline and long and short stitches to fill in the wings. I will have to make this my first crafting effort for spring.
