Materials List

  • Empty, clean Gordon's London Dry Gin glass bottle
  • Handmade cream-colored tissue paper
  • Two A5-sized vintage music sheets
  • A5-sized rose embossed gold paper
  • Ten clear 5mm multifaceted rhinestones
  • Suitable stencil of a leaf
  • Mod Podge
  • Rolkem super gold dusting powder
  • Quick-drying matte clear spray varnish
  • Clear-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)
  • Large petal palm punch from XCut, code XCU 261811
  • Standard scissors
  • Two paintbrushes
  • Sheet of newspaper to protect the working area

Instructions

  1. Cut strips from the handmade cream-colored tissue paper.

  2. Paint Mod Podge to the back of the first strip of tissue paper. Turn the strip of paper around and put it in position on the bottle.

  3. With the brush, spread Mod Podge to the front of the strip of paper, lightly applying pressure so that it will stick to the bottle, and use your finger to gently rub out any air bubbles.

  4. Repeat steps 2-3 with the other strips of paper, until the bottle has been covered with the tissue paper. Do not cover the base of the bottle, but make sure that you add tissue paper strips all the way up to the top lip of the bottle. Allow to dry thoroughly.

  5. Trace 8 leaves onto the music sheets and cut the leaves out. Use Mod Podge to stick the leaves to the bottle in the same way as the tissue paper strips were added. Allow the leaves to swirl around the bottle.

  6. Cut a strip from the second music sheet that would fit around the finish (area between neck and upper lip) of the bottle. Use Mod Podge to stick the music sheet strip to the finish and allow to dry.

  7. Use the second dry paintbrush and the gold dusting powder to add an uneven gold shimmer to the upper lip, the finish, the neck, and the shoulder of the bottle. Also add an uneven gold shimmer to some areas of the music leaves.

  8. Punch 10 flowers from the rose embossed gold paper and use Mod Podge to stick them to the bottle, using the same method as described in steps 2 and 3.

  9. Put the bottle upright on a piece of newspaper and apply a coat of varnish. Remember to work in a well-ventilated area when using the varnish. Allow to dry thoroughly.

  10. Glue a rhinestone to the center of each flower.
