Turn that loose change into a cute and clever addition to your holiday home decor with this Lucky Penny Letters tutorial from craft designer Maureen Wilson! With a bit of Mod Podge and some creativity, you can easily create a St. Patrick's Day decoration that looks like a million bucks!


Lucky Penny Letters
 

Materials:

  • Papier mache or wooden letters
  • Copper acrylic paint & foam brush
  • Hot glue gun & glue sticks
  • Pennies (about $3 worth)
  • Mod Podge (optional)

 

Instructions:

  1. Begin by painting your purchased letters copper with copper, acrylic paint.

    Note: If your letters are papier mache or unfinished wood, one coat should do fine.
     
  2. Once your letters are dry, begin to add your pennies using a hot glue gun.
     
  3. While gluing, try to space them so you don’t have any large gaps. Alternating pennies with different layers will give the piece added dimension.

    Option:  Add a layer of glossy Mod Podge if you want them to shine.Prop your lucky penny letters on your mantle for an eye-catching display.
