Decorated Tee for Mother's Day

Want to make Mom something special for Mother's Day this year? One of the best homemade Mothers Day gifts we've seen is this cute Decorated Tee! With a bit of ribbon trim and some fabric glue, you can make her a special present she can wear year-round!  Follow along as craft designer Carlene Eshelman demonstrates how to make a pretty embellished v-neck shirt that any woman would love!

Materials:

  • T-shirt with v neckline
  • 24” rose ribbon
  • Fabric glue or matching needle/thread
  • Scissors
  • Fabric pins
     

Instructions:

1. Trim any netting away from rose ribbon trim.

2. To use fabric glue, place a line of glue where you wish to adhere rose trim.

3. For sewing ribbon, skip to step 6.

4. Place trim on glue and press down. Trim any loose ends.

5. Place second line of fabric glue along first row of trim.

6. Thread matching needle and thread, and double to about 24”. Tie knot at end.

7. Stitch a small circle on back of each flower and tie knot for each one.

8. Optional: If you have two flowers in the middle of the v of the neckline, cut one flower and place in the middle of the two flowers.

This idea is a real budget buster! Imagine getting several tees in different colors and glamming them up like this, so that it looks like some really high end finds! If you have a sewing machine, you probably could do the simple trim one faster, but it's nice to have the option! For even more pizazz sew on a few glass beads or rhinestones! Thanks for sharing!

This is a great idea and so easy. I have plain T-shirts in several colours. This is just the thing to brighten up my wardrobe. Thank you for the tutorial.
